The 2011 NBA most valuable player missed the entire 2012-13 season with a knee injury and participated in only ten NBA regular season games two years ago after tearing the meniscus in his right knee.

It is not the injury that worries hardcore fans in basketball-crazed Chicago. Rose put his foot in his mouth before training camp began, talking about hos contract extension years down the road. The comments rubbed Chicagoans the wrong way. Rose contract is not up until 2017, so why is the All-Star complaining about money down the road? Most professional athletes want to get as much money as they can; they are only human. This summer the Detroit Pistons resigned point guard Reggie Jackson to an $80 million extension. Jackson has only started in a season in the league, and that was after being traded to Detroit from Oklahoma City. Derrick Rose has been a fan favorite in his hometown since entering the National Basketball Association. Even the most loyal Rose supporters are backing away.
