The Florida Marlins could not reach a deal with former Major League Baseball skipper Bobby Valentine and now they the decided to make Edwin Rodriguez the teams manager for the rest of the MLB Picks season, making Rodriguez the first Puerto Rican manager in major league baseball. Owner Jeff Loria told Rodriguez about his decision just before Tuesday nights game against the New York Mets, a series that is being played in Puerto Rico. http://www.charliessports.com
The decision also puts the teams mind at ease and will allow them to focus on winning baseball games instead of who is going to be the manager, Loria also said that Rodriguez deserves a chance to prove himself, that is what this country and our society is all about. The team has gotten to know the new skipper very well and says that he does a great job communicating, the team has said that Rodriguez wants to be a part of a winning team and learn from his players, it is a two way street we are all in this together said the new Marlins skipper. The 37-40 Marlins are 7′ games out of 1st place and have won 2 in a row as of June 29th. I know that this team has a couple of superstars in pitcher Josh Johnson and shortstop Hanley Ramirez. http://www.charliessports.com
If the Marlins make some moves by the trade deadline who knows what could happen, after all this is a season in which no 1st place team is exactly running away with a race. Loria had big expectations coming into this MLB Picks season and has not given up. As I said the team will have to make a move by the trade deadline if they want to be playoff contenders. Many if the game say that Seattle ace Cliff Lee will be available and a player like that could make the Marlins contenders, as teams in the NL East would have to face him and Johnson. The Marlins say that they also interviewed former third-base coach Bo Porter, now with the Arizona Diamondbacks. Don’t forget this organization is building a brand new state of the art stadium just west of downtown Miami, on the site of where the famous Orange Bowl used to sit, something has to give in a situation like this if the new manager makes a run at the playoffs he stays, if not he is out. http://www.charliessports.com
