Baylor Looking Into Latest Allegations Involving Former Player: Head Coach Could Be Center Of Investigation.

Written and authored by NCAA Football Expert Analyst Bobby Wallace. Charliessports.com produces it for Football news and notes. For most sports enthusiasts “LONE STAR STATE” there are only two seasons Football and Spring Football. Baylor University was at the bottom of the food chain in the football-crazed state. As the Baptist Institute in Waco, Texas has risen to national prominence questions are being asked about the integrity of head coach Art Briles. The most recent news centers around the investigation of former defensive end Sam Ukwuachu. The Pearland, Texas native began his career at Boise State. Where he was involved in an altercation with a female student. Ukwuachu was eventually suspended from the team and transferred to Baylor.

Sam Ukwuachu was sentenced to six months in jail and placed on ten years of probation recently after sexually assaulting a former Baylor women’s soccer player in 2014. Ukwuachu ex-girlfriend at Boise State testified against him at the trial. Former Boise State, now The University of Washington Football coach Chris Peterson allegedly called Briles to inform his about Ukwuachu’s conduct. That is where the problem is, who is telling the truth Briles or Peterson. This, the new landscape of College Football. Where integrity takes a back seat to winning at all cost. As Art Briles takes the Baylor Bears football program to new heights, the skeptics are trying to bring it down. The former Texas High School coaching legend broke into big-time College football at the University of Houston. Briles has been so convincing to Texas prep stars; he convinced Robert Griffin 111 to follow him to Baylor after Griffin was headed to play for the Cougars. What Briles has brought to Baylor is two straight BCS paychecks for the institute, and that goes a long way in support from boosters. Ukwuachu started 13-games as a true freshman in 2013 but decided to transfer to Baylor. The massive player never played a down in Waco. Ukwuachu like many other entitled athletes has a few mental issues that must be addressed so he can become a productive member of society.

The Baylor football program has accepted highly regarded former Texas high school football stars who started out somewhere else. There are a few that come to mind. Running Back Lache Seastrunk began his career at the University of Oregon. The Temple, Texas product teamed with another Texan, LaMichael James. The Ducks football program took a hit for recruiting both of these kids. In an NCAA investigation, middleman Willie Lyles was supposed to have gotten paid for delivering the two running back to Oregon. The result was three years of probation for the Oregon program and the loss of scholarships.James stayed and became a Heisman, Trophy finalist. Seastrunk transferred to Baylor where he was welcomed with open arms and eventually earned a starting position. The most recent is current Baylor All-American defensive end Shawn Oakman. The Lansdowne, Pennsylvania native began his career at Penn State, but violated team rules and off to Waco he went. Maybe some good can come out of all of this but I doubt it. Players like Ukwauchu, Seastrunk, and Oakman put fans in the stands and brings money the University. So much, so Baylor is opening their brand new state of the art McLane Stadium this season. If they were not winning the Bears would still be playing the old Floyd Casey Stadium.
