The (0-0) Massachusetts Minutemen of the Mid-American East Division will travel to the “MILE HIGH STATE” for their 2015 season opener. UMass will play the (0-1) Colorado Buffaloes of the PAC-Twelve South Division in College Football action. The game will be played at the beautiful “FOLSOM FIELD” in picturesque Boulder, Colorado. The best sports handicapper believes the Massachusetts Minutemen will improve after winning just five football games as members of the FBS in three season. The Colorado Buffaloes football program are in rebuilding mode. The coaching staff remains optimistic after the loss at Hawaii in week one. The opening betting line has Colorado as a thirteen point Home Favorite Against The Spread. The betting odds total is 62′-points for Saturday’s game.
The 2015 UMass Minutemen opens the season Saturday against a power conference football team. The Minutemen lost at home to Colorado in 2014 41-38. Massachusetts head coach Mark Whipple believes he has one of the best quarterback-wide receiver combinations in College Football. Signal caller Blake Frohnapfel (3,345) passing yards in just ten-game missed the final two of 2014 with a broken leg. Wideout Tajae Sharpe (1,281) receiving yards will catch the eye of opponents again this season. Whipple has the team focused on a bowl birth in 2015. The combination of Frohnapfel to Sharpe will be an area of discussion for the Colorado coaching staff this week. Both are setting records at the basketball institute. Sharpe is getting plenty of looks from NFL scouts and Saturday is going to be the start of something special in the “BAY STATE”. The Minutemen return nineteen starters on both sides of the football this season, and they are confident. Umass is being overlooked in the Mid-American Conference by most experts, but the expert at Charliessports.com knows what they are capable of doing on offense. The defense should be much improved with nine starters returning. The Minutemen host Temple on September 19th and then it’s off to South Bend, Indiana with a date with Notre Dame.
The 2015 Colorado Buffaloes have lost nine in a row dating back to the 2014 season. The “BUFFS” lost their road opener 28-20 at Hawaii and reports are head coach Mike MacIntyre is on the hot seat. There is no way Colorado should be losing to a little sister team from a lesser conference, but they did. Colorado is out of their league in the Pac-12 and will struggle to beat Washington State this season. MacIntyre and the coaching staff must keep the team positive entering Saturday’s matchup. Make no mistake the betting line is way off at 13-points. Colorado could easily start the season 0-2 if they are not focused Saturday. The Colorado passing attack is on par with UMass, and there should be plenty of scoring in the contest. If MacIntyre fails to beat Umass or Colorado State on September 19th in Denver, it will be a long season and the coaching staff may not survive. Quarterback Sefo Liufau knows what the team is up against and say’s the team ‘s confidence level is still high. Players know what a home loss against a Mid-American Conference team would mean going forward. The Buffaloes must cut down on mistakes, there were too many in the opener.
