The (1-2) Akron Zips of the MAC-East Division will travel to “SPORTSMANS PARADISE” for a College Football matchup. Akron takes on the (1-1) Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns of the Sun Belt Conference in 2015 NCAA action. The game will be at Cajun Field on campus in Lafayette, Louisiana. Kickoff time is at 7:00 PM EST. The game is on Saturday, September 26th, 2015. The Best Sports Handicapper believes the Akron Zips are prepared to face the Ragin’ Cajuns. The MAC is showing they can compete with any mid-major school in the country. Louisiana-Lafayette lost a tough one against SEC foe Kentucky in the 2015 season opener. The opening betting line has Akron as an eight-point Road Underdog Against The Point Spread. The betting odds total is 52′-points for Saturday’s game.
The 2015 Akron Zips posted their first win of the season against Savannah State. Akron lost in week one at Oklahoma and at home is the second weekend at home to Pittsburgh. The Zips are looking to get revenge on a 2013 loss to Louisiana-Lafayette. Akron starting quarterback Kyle Pohl is set to return after a concussion last Saturday. If Pohl can’t go Tra’Von Chapman and Thomas Woodson will rotate being under center. Head Coach Terry Bowden is seeking consistency at Akron. The Zips started out last season with a bang but struggled down the stretch. A road win at Louisiana-Lafayette would give the Zips momentum going into Conference play. Running Back Cody Grice scored three touchdowns in last Saturday’s win and must continue to grind out yards. Both coaching staffs will be wearing Coach to Cure MD patches on their attire. The Zips defense is the strength of the team. Defensively Akron ranks 21st in the nation allowing opponents (100.3) yard per game running the football. The Zips are 11th nationally in receiving yards per catch (15.6). The key to an Akron win is to create points with their versatile quarterback and play their usual tough defense.
The Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns and head coach Mark Hudspeth are coming off of a bye week. Louisiana-Lafayette lost their opener at Kentucky in overtime and beat Northwestern State in week two. Junior running back Elijah McGuire is considered one of the best in the Sun Belt. Senior wideout Jamal Robinson is also a preseason All-Conference performer. The Ragin’ Cajuns have the offense to frustrate a good Akron defense. Hudspeth knows his team must be ready for Bowden’s defensive sets. Junior signal caller Brooks Haack take over for two-time All Sun Belt performer Terrance Broadway. The coaching staff is practicing patience with Haack. Louisiana is coming off of four consecutive 9-4 seasons and a win Saturday will be a great boost as they also head into conference play. The key to a Louisiana Lafayette win is to establish the running game with McGuire. Haack is not as efficient as Broadway was, but he has the ability to make simple throw with consistency.
