The Charlotte 49ers opened the 2015 season with a road win against Georgia State. Charlotte made the jump from the FCS to FBS this season, and growing pains can’t be avoided. The 49ers were blasted at Middle Tennessee 73-14 on September 19th and lost at home 17-10 against Florida Atlantic last Saturday. There is optimism surrounding the football program that play’s in the largest city on “TABACCO ROAD”. Nearly 18,000 fans showed up last Saturday for the FAU game. School officials expect a sellout crowd for the nationally televised contest under the Friday Night lights. The 49ers defense ranks first in Conference-USA giving up (345.8) yards per game. Charlotte held Florida Atlantic and Presbyterian under (200) yards of total offense. Junior running back Kalif Phillips rushed for 165 yards in last week’s loss to FAU. The key to a Charlotte win is to play solid on defense and establish a running game of offense. It is going to be tough against a good Temple defense.
