The “MEN OF TROY” won five in a row last season from September 23rd through October 27th. The Athletic department parted ways with Steve Sarkisian.

Clay Helton got his wish and is the new head coach after leading the team in the final ten games last season.

Expectations are high despite Helton’s lack of experience running a program. What else would you expect from fans of the University of Southern California football program?

UCS was co-champions of the PAC-Twelve South division. The nation will find out early what the Trojans are made of with a Labor day meeting vs. Alabama in Arlington, Texas.

The 2016-17 USC offense will be without longtime signal caller Cody Kessler. It’s the first time since 2013 the coaching staff must groom a quarterback which is the bad news.

The good news is nine starters return from last season. The entire offensive line is in the mix, including an excellent tight end. All American Wide Receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster is one of the best in the nation.

Former University of Tennessee quarterback Tee Martin is the new offensive coordinator. The Mobile, Alabama native proceeded Peyton Manning and led the “VOLS” to a national title.

The USC offense has one of the most dynamic players in the nation at the running back position. Sophomore Ronald Jones is a game breaker and can take it the distance from anywhere on the field.

The Texas native turned heads as a true freshman last season. Jones and Smith-Schuster are a safety net for the new quarterback.

Four players are in the mix to be the starter under center.

The Southern California defense gave up more than forty points three times last season. Oregon put up 48 on the Trojans, and it can’t happen again this season.

Stanford and Notre Dame also exploited the Trojans defense. Six starters are back from the 2015 season.

Defensive Coordinator Clancy Pendergast has some elite talent in the secondary. Junior cornerback Adoree’ Jackson also plays some offense.

The opposite of Jackson is Iman Marshall; the Long Beach Poly graduate has all of the tools to be great.

Sophomore Linebacker Cameron Smith is the leader at the position and is coming off of a banner season.

Smith, the 2015 PAC-12 defensive freshman of the year, is going to be asked to lead the defense.

The coaching staff is looking for someone to step up on the defensive line; the entire line got decimated by graduation.

The Trojans are going to be tough if they can find a consistent run stopper and pass rusher.

The USC Trojans are +550 to win the 2016-17 PAC-12 Conference Championship.
