The Cincinnati Bearcats dropped three of five down the stretch last season. Cincinnati finished the 2016 campaign with a 7-6 record but got embarrassed in the Hula Bowl, losing 42-7 to San Diego State.

Head Coach Tommy Tuberville enters his fourth season at the University of Cincinnati.

The Bearcats were supposed to compete for the American Athletic Conference Title last season.

Maybe the team will ascend with less than lofty expectations in the 2016 season.

All of the components are in place, especially on offense for the Bearcats to have success this season.

The Cincinnati Bearcats offense will have a new offensive coordinator with Zac Taylor who served as the Miami Dolphins interim coordinator last season.

The Bearcats were one of the most efficient passing teams last season. Cincinnati ranked sixth in total offense and passing yards last season.

Eighteen records were set last season by the University of Cincinnati offense. Starting quarterback Gunner Kiel (2,777) yards in the air last year is back under center this season.

The son of the last former Notre Dame star Blair Kiel has next level potential but must avoid turnovers.

Redshirt Sophomore Hayden Moore will get plenty of looks in fall camp and is a more than capable backup.

The offense will be without most of their wideouts, including NFL draft pick Chris Moore and Shaq Washington.

The offensive line is solid, and the Bearcats are stacked at Running Back.

Defensive Coordinator Robert Prunty enters his first season running a unit that struggled most of the 2015 season.

Cincinnati gave up a little over 409.0 yards per contest to the opposition in 2015. The pass defense did a good job, but they struggled against the run.

The 2016 version should be better against the run. Linebackers Eric Wilson and Bryce Jenkinson have a year of experience under their belt.

The defense also returns two accomplished defensive tackles this season, which will help stop opposing running backs.

The best player on the defensive side of the football is safety Zack Edwards who was second on the team in tackles last season.

Edwards in an NFL caliber player who can play the pass and run.

Bovada.Lv list Cincinnati at +550 to win the 2016 American Athletic Conference Title.
