TCU Head Football Coach Gary Patterson has the Fort Worth-based Institute as the premier College Football program in the “LONE STAR STATE”.

It didn’t happen overnight and took a lot of patience and selling in North Texas. Patterson enters his fifteenth season on the sidelines and will go down as a legend among the coaching ranks.

The Horned Frogs won their first eight games in 2015 but injuries to leading players down the stretch of the season prevented the team from reaching their ultimate goal.

The departure of multi-talented signal caller Trevone Boykin will not be felt as much as fans think.

Patterson and his coaching staff still have the talent to compete for the Big-Twelve title. The TCU nonconference schedule is not a tough a the rest of the Big Twelve.

TCU host Arkansas of the SEC-West in the second week of the 2016 season.

Offensive Coordinators Sonny Cumbie and Doug Meacham will also be without the services of NFL first-round draft choice Josh Doctson.

The Washington Redskins pick, topped TCU with fourteen touchdowns and 1,227 receiving yards last season. The Boykin to Doctson combination had coaches in the conference losing sleep over the past two seasons.

It still may cause opponents to work overtime on and off of the football field.

Former Texas A&M quarterback Kenny Hill will be the starting quarterback for TCU in 2016. The Southlake, Texas native is back home in familiar territory and is poised to take over where Boykin left off.

Hill is more accurate and knows how to dissect a defense. The TCU offense was third in the FBS in total offense last season, seventh in scoring and the passing game ranked 8th.

A trio of wideouts led by KaVontae Turpin will elevate the passing attack. Four starters from the offensive line must be replaced along with running back Aaron Green.

Bovada list the 2016-17 TCU Horned Frogs at +500 to win the Big Twelve Championship.

The 2016-17 TCU defense should be a little better than they were last season.

The Horned Frogs has trouble stopping the run by who cares in the pass happy Big-Twelve Conference.

Linebackers Travin Howard, Ty Summers, and Montrel Wilson all return along with Sammy Douglas. The unit is the most talented group on the defensive side of the football.

Gary Patterson always has fast and athletic defenses but can they compete with the elite in College Football.

Defensive End Josh Carraway returns as the sack leader from last season, and James McFarland is back after missing last year.

The secondary is clearly thin on experience, but there is plenty of skill players at the high school level in the state of Texas.

It will not be hard to find cornerbacks and safeties. Patterson will have the defense ready to compete. Four experienced players who missed the entire 2015 season are willing to put the pads on and begin hitting.

Winning. NCAA Football News and Notes.
