Brian Kelly enters his tenth season as the head coach in what could be called the premier job in College Football. The Fighting Irish are coming off of a 12-1 campaign which ended with a 30-3 loss to Clemson in the Playoff Semifinals. Senior Ian Book (2,628) passing yards returns under center after he took the job from Brandon Wimbush. Notre Dame averaged (37.2) ppg in the final nine games of the season with Book playing quarterback. Offensive coordinator Chip Long will also have four linemen returning with center Jarrett Patterson as the lone newcomer to a group. Dexter Williams (995) rushing yards last season is gone, but former receiver Jafar Armstrong looks like a natural at running back. The junior has a second gear which could turn into long touchdowns each time he touches the ball. Tight end Cole Kmet could follow in the footsteps of Tyler Eifert and Kyle Rudolph who were both first-round NFL draft picks. The primary weapon for Book will be Chase Claypool who must match the production of Myles Boykin who’s in the NFL. Notre Dame will run the spread offense predicated on a heavy inside run presence to take advantage of their experience up-front.

The Notre Dame defense reaped the benefits of Jerry Tillery and Drew Tranquill to return for their senior season in 2018. Both are no longer around, but coordinator Clark Lea has an impressive group of pass rushers. Senior end Daelin Hayes, Julian Okwara along with Khalid Kareem can take over football games with a pass rush. Last season they were a bend or break unit that gave up (18.2) ppg which ranked eighteenth in the FBS. Although opponents moved the football the Fighting Irish played stout inside the red zone. Lack of depth at tackle and linebacker will be the weakness of the unit which is why Kelly may want to do his best to extend drives on offense by running the ball. Safeties Jalen Elliott and Alohi Gilman are an outstanding duo while Troy Pride Jr is an efficient cornerback. However, they must replace the talented Julian Love. The Fighting Irish opens the 2019 campaign at Louisville on September 2nd. Besides, they’ll be tested at Georgia, Michigan, and Stanford. Home dates with USC, Virginia, Navy, and Boston College will play a huge role in their Playoff situation. Bovada.Lv list the Norte Dame Fighting Irish win total at eight and a half games for 2019.

Charliessports.com produces it for Football Betting. College Football Weekly Predictions are the best in the industry and will continue through the BCS-title game in January of 2019. After a dismal 4-8 campaign in 2016 head coach, Brian Kelly was on the hot seat at the most notable College Football program in America, but the Irish bounced back nearly upsetting Georgia, and they finished with a 10-3 record ending it with a bowl victory over LSU. However many believe they got exposed on a road trip to Miami by getting destroyed 41-8 on National television with a number three national ranking. Notre Dame lost two offensive linemen in the first ten picks of the 2018 NFL draft, and that’s hard to replace no matter how well you recruit. There’s also a new scheme on defense which the safeties didn’t get an interception in 2017. Notre Dame also has one of the toughest schedules in the nation hosting the Michigan Wolverines in their season opener, three weeks later Stanford invades South Bend, Indiana, Pittsburgh comes to town in October and the finish their home schedule with Willie Taggart and the Florida State Seminoles. Road trips to Virginia Tech and their regular season finale in the Coliseum to take on USC will be tough.

Offensive coordinator Chip Long did a masterful job installing the spread offense last season; they ran the ball exceptionally efficient averaging (269.5) per game rushing which ranked seventh nationally. It probably won’t be as productive in 2018 with the departures of running back Josh Adams, plus linemen Quenton Nelson and Mike McGlinchey. Senior Brandon Wimbush came out of nowhere last season to become a household name putting up over (448.4) yards of total offense per game but struggled to throw the football, and it showed as the season progressed. Dexter Williams gets his chance to showcase his skills at running back this season; the coaching staff says he patiently waited his turn and expected to make the best of it in his curtain call. Although the cast of wide receivers will be young, they’ve got size, speed, and talent but Tight Ends Cole Kmet and Alize Mack will be unstoppable, Winbush can help himself by targeting the duo with regularity in critical situations. Center Sam Mustipher along with guard Alex Bars bring stability to the offensive line, which will get better as the season progresses. Notre Dame was an ATS covering machine on the road in the regular season, but they probably won’t come close to the eight-overall point spread covers in 2018.

First-year defensive coordinator Clark Lea was the beneficiary of Mike Elko’s decision to take the same job on Jimbo Fisher at Texas A&M. The best part is nine returning starters are in place from a unit which ranked forty-sixth nationally allowing (369.2) total yards per contest; they should improve the number dramatically. It all starts up front with All American defensive tackle Jerry Tillery whos’ battles with Nelson and McGlinchey in practice will pay dividends in the 2019 NFL draft as he could hear his name called fairly early. Linebackers Drue Tranquill and Te’von Coney have the speed play sideline to sideline. Notre Dame will also have one of the best tandems of specialists of any team on their 2018 schedule with kicker Justin Yoon who’s accuracy on field goals and has the ability of kick the ball out of the end zone is an asset. Punter Tanner Newsome has a next level leg but can be a bit inconsistent. Experience on defense will keep Notre Dame competitive against the best of the best. Bovada.Lv, list the Notre Dame Fighting Irish at 40/1 to win the 2018-19 BCS Championship.
