After losing two consecutive the (3-2) SU/AGAINST THE SPREAD Maryland Terrapins beat lowly Rutger 48-7 last Saturday as 14-point ROAD FAVORITES ATS. The Terrapins broke the game open with twenty-one unanswered in the third quarter. Virginia Tech transfer and current Maryland signal-caller Josh Jackson threw a couple of interceptions which is a cause for concern. Maryland is 2-12 ATS their previous fourteen after a SU win of more than twenty-points. The two schools have played two previous times and Maryland won both. Anthony McFarland jr averages (5.4) yards per attempt for a rushing attack that produces (218.4) total yards per game. It’s been a topsy-turvy season for Maryland, they had a convincing home win over Syracuse but had a 59-0 loss to Penn State in the Red Line State. A key to a Maryland victory is to play ith effort each possession on both sides of the football. Taking care of the football will be a priority of the coaching staff and Jackson could be on thin ice.

The (1-4) SU, (2-3) ATS Purdue Boilermakers have fallen short of expectations this fall. Purdue will attempt to break a three-game skid after last Saturdays 35-7 road loss to Penn State as 28 point UNDERDOGS. it’s been a nightmare season for head coach Jeff Brohm who turned down his Alam Mater Louisville to remain in West Lafayette, Indiana. The Boilermakers got a signature victory on National Television against Ohio State in 2018 and fans were believing the program had taken the next step. However, injuries on offense to Quarterback Elijah Sindelar and wide receiver Rondale Moore has reared it’s an ugly head. Purdue is 0-4 ATS their previous four following a POINT SPREAD cover. While the offense is without their playmakers the defense is struggling giving up (33.0) ppg to the opposition. They’ll face a high octane offense Saturday.

This Sports handicapper believes Brohm must find a way to get his team fired up for a winnable home game. We’re going with the home UNDERDOG Boliermakers+5′ Points.

Northwestern will take the short bus ride to Northwest Indiana for Thursday’s 2018 opener.

Written by NCAA Football ATS Analyst Al Presto.

Charliessports.com produces it for Football Betting. College Football Point Spread Predictions are the best in the industry and will continue through the BCS-title game in January of 2019. Orland Park, Illinois native and Northwestern University head football coach Pat Fitzgerald enters his thirteenth season at the institute where he played linebacker from 1993-96 with high expectations after finishing 2017 with eight consecutive wins. It’ll be the first game of 2018 in the Big Ten and two FBS opponents which should attract a large betting audience. The Purdue Boilermakers didn’t have the finish that Thursday’s opponent had, but they were able to win three of their last four to sneak into a bowl game in which they beat Arizona in a 38-35 shootout. Jeff Brohm is in his second season at Purdue after having success at Western Kentucky; he’s now trying to take the Boilermakers program to new heights. Thursday’s contest is 8:00 PM EST at Ross-Ade Stadium on campus in West Lafayette, Indiana about an hour and a half drive from Chicago. The ESPN Network will be broadcasting. The Opening Betting Line has Purdue as a two and a half point home favorite against the point spread. The betting odds total is fifty-one points for Thursday’s season opener.

Northwestern beat Purdue 23-13 in November with weather conditions along with a lake effect at Ryan Field had something to do with the low score. Thursday’s field condition will be much different, but the Wildcats offense will be without their all-time leading rusher Justin Jackson who graduated. Making matter even more difficult is returning quarterback Clayton Thorson hasn’t played since last season’s ACL tear as his status is uncertain. Whoever is under center for Northwestern running back Jeremy Larkin who averaged (6.0) yards per carry in a reserve role last season will get plenty of touches. Offensive Coordinator Mick McCall has four returning linemen and add to the equation that Purdue’s entire defensive line is inexperienced, they’ll try to dominate at the line of scrimmage. The Wildcats defense has talent at all three levels from elite pass rushers to hard-hitting linebackers, and cornerback Montre Hartage is an NFL talent. The key to a Northwestern victory is to dominate at the point of attack on offense and defense. They want to keep it a low scoring contest by running the ball, and it could be another low scoring affair.

Purdue has the luxury of having two quarterbacks with experience which could play a considerable role Thursday, especially if Thorson isn’t available for Northwestern. Brohm will probably wait before kickoff to announce either David Blough or Elijah Sindelar as the starter. The offense should have a better feel for the uptempo style the coaching staff likes and they’ll try to catch Northwestern off guard. However, they lost a lot of talent at wide receiver, but freshman Rondale Moore had a fantastic fall camp and should get plenty of balls thrown in his direction. Markell Jones is the best of a good slew of running backs Purdue will count on with misdirection plays. On the other side of the ball the linebackers must fill holes due to lack of depth along the front; if Northwestern’s offensive line get in a rhythm, it’ll be along day for Purdue in front of the home crowd. Purdue must find way’s to get stops on defense to come away with a win.

Purdue could be getting overlooked in Big-Ten.

Written by NCAA Football Point Spread Analyst Greg Nelson.

Charliessports.com produces it for Football Betting. College Football ATS Predictions are the best in the industry and will continue through the BCS-title game in January of 2019. Purdue Boilermakers head football coach Jeff Brohm brings a Joe Tiller type of confidence to a program which produced Drew Brees but not much offense since. Purdue won’t surprise anybody in 2018; they were 9-4 against the point spread and 7-6 overall ending the 2017 season with a 38-35 Foster Farms bowl victory over Arizona. Familiarity to an uptempo offense which won two Conference USA titles while Brohm coached at Western Kentucky will put the Big Ten West division on notice in 2018. Purdue begins the 2018 season with four consecutive home games starting with Northwestern on August 30th. Preseason divisional favorites Ohio State and Wisconsin also come to Ross-Ade Stadium in West Lafayette, Indiana this season. Road trips to Nebraska and Michigan State could determine the outcome of both the East and West divisions.

Two quarterbacks are not what a typical offense uses but Purdue has Junior Elijah Sindelar (2,099) passing yards last season and David Blough who began the 2017 season as the starter. Brohm likes Sindelar’s stature in the pocket along with his six foot four frame but’s also intrigued by Blough’s ability to make quick decisions on the run by hitting receivers in stride. Offensive coordinator Brian Brohm, the coach’s brother, and former Louisville signal caller have four returning offensive linemen led by center Kirk Barron; they’ll be a cohesive unit barring injury. Four terrific running backs, each with a unique skill set return led by last season’s leading rusher Markell Jones could be the deepest in the Big Ten. However there isn’t a proven playmaker at wide receiver, Jackson Anthrop is small in stature but can snag the ball with the best in the conference. Freshman Rondale Moore who’s a Louisville native and a four-star recruit could get immediate playing time becoming the primary target. Brohm should have Purdue ready on offense with plenty of leadership at key positions.

Co-defensive coordinators Nick Holt and Anthony Poindexter lose eight starters from a unit which allowed just (20.5) ppg, twenty fourth in the FBS last season. The front seven shut-down most opponents in 2017, giving up (133.2) yards per game rushing but lost many of their vital components. Linebacker Markus Bailey returns as the mike linebacker where he performs at his best as opposed to being out of position previously. Purdue will stay lined up in a hybrid formation in their base defense which paid dividends as the season progressed due primarily to inclimate weather conditions around the Midwest. Poindexter, a former safety understand secondary play better than most knows he’ll have two new starters at cornerback. Freshmen Dedrick Mackey and Kenneth Major along with former walk-on Jacob Thieneman, who’ll have everyone lined up correctly should be formidable. Bovada.Lv, list the Boston College Eagles at 50/1 to win the 2018 Atlantic Coast Conference Championship.
